Frequently asked questions about photovoltaic projects
Are you planning a commercial photovoltaic system, a solar park or the expansion of your energy infrastructure? Here, we answer frequently asked questions about our services, the project procedure and technical as well as economic topics.
General questions
What services does Faber Solartechnik offer?
Faber Solartechnik develops and implements photovoltaic projects for commerce, industry and open spaces. Our range of services extends from project development and technical planning to procurement and installation, right through to the commissioning of the system. Upon request, we also support the integration of battery storage systems and further energy infrastructure.
For which clients does Faber Solartechnik work?
We work for companies, investors, project developers, energy suppliers, municipalities, agricultural businesses and landowners, amongst others. Our focus is on larger commercial and industrial photovoltaic projects.
Does Faber Solartechnik also install domestic photovoltaic systems?
Our focus is on large commercial and industrial systems as well as ground-mounted projects. Traditional photovoltaic systems for single-family homes are generally not part of our range of services.
In which regions does Faber Solartechnik operate?
We realise photovoltaic projects throughout Germany. Support is provided from our locations in Bünde and Dresden.
Does Faber Solartechnik handle projects on a turn-key basis?
Yes. Depending on the project scope, we handle all steps from planning, procurement and installation through to the operational handover of the photovoltaic system. The exact scope of services is agreed individually.
Commercial photovoltaic systems
From what roof area does Faber Solartechnik install photovoltaic systems?
A solar park station is a specialised facility used for the integration and management of solar energy within a solar park. Its function consists of converting the direct current (DC) energy generated by the photovoltaic modules into alternating current (AC) and feeding it into the public power grid. Furthermore, it provides protection and monitoring functions for the safe operation of the solar park.
Which roofs are suitable for a commercial photovoltaic system?
Our Solar park station features a wide range of functions, including the conversion of direct current to alternating current, protection and monitoring equipment, insulation monitoring, and efficient low-voltage distribution. It is specially designed for use in IT systems and meets the highest efficiency and safety requirements.
Does the structural engineering of the building need to be checked?
Our solar farm substation is convincing due to a number of advantages. These include higher efficiency through the omission of NH fuses, a longer service life and less maintenance effort due to lower heat generation and advanced switching technology. In addition, the integrated insulation monitoring ensures additional safety and reliability in the IT system.
Can a photovoltaic system be retrofitted onto an existing commercial roof?
Our solar farm substation is convincing due to a number of advantages. These include higher efficiency through the omission of NH fuses, a longer service life and less maintenance effort due to lower heat generation and advanced switching technology. In addition, the integrated insulation monitoring ensures additional safety and reliability in the IT system.
Can the photovoltaic system be combined with a battery storage system?
Our solar farm substation is convincing due to a number of advantages. These include higher efficiency through the omission of NH fuses, a longer service life and less maintenance effort due to lower heat generation and advanced switching technology. In addition, the integrated insulation monitoring ensures additional safety and reliability in the IT system.
Ground-mounted solar systems and solar parks
From what size is a solar park possible?
Whether a site is suitable does not depend solely on its size. Town and country planning law, grid connection, land use, soil composition, nature conservation and commercial viability are also relevant. We always evaluate open-space projects on an individual basis.
Which areas are suitable for ground-mounted photovoltaics?
Examples include conversion sites, areas along certain transport routes, disadvantaged agricultural areas or plots otherwise suitable under planning law. The actual suitability must be examined separately for each location.
Can landowners offer their land for a solar farm?
What permits are required for a solar park?
How long does the development of a solar farm take?

How does a photovoltaic project begin with Faber Solartechnik?
In the first step, you send us the most important project data. This includes, for example, the location, available space, energy consumption, existing documentation and the desired timeframe. We will then review your enquiry and discuss the next steps with you.
What information is required for an initial review?
The following are particularly helpful:
- Address and location of the planned facility
- Type and size of the available roof or open space
- Current electricity consumption and load profile data
- Photographs, site plans or roof plans
- Information on the existing mains connection
- Desired project duration
- Information on planned expansions, storage facilities or charging infrastructure
Does Faber Solartechnik also handle the technical design?
Does Faber Solartechnik assist with the grid connection?
Who is supplying the transformer substations for the projects?
Can existing photovoltaic systems be expanded?
Cost-effectiveness and operations
Is a commercial photovoltaic system worthwhile?
The economic viability depends, among other things, on investment costs, electricity consumption, self-consumption rate, electricity price, system size, financing and remuneration. An individual calculation shows which concept makes sense for the respective location.
What benefits does a photovoltaic system offer businesses?
How long can a photovoltaic system be operated?
Do photovoltaic systems need to be serviced regularly?
What happens to surplus solar power?
Contact and project enquiries
How can I request a photovoltaic project?
Use our enquiry form and send us the most important information about your project. The more precise the details regarding location, area, energy requirements and timeframe, the quicker we can assess the project.
Is an initial project enquiry non-binding?
Yes. Upon receipt of your enquiry, we will first check whether the project generally falls within our scope of services. We will then get in touch with you to discuss the project and potential next steps.
What happens after my enquiry?

What does EPC mean in photovoltaic projects?
What services does an EPC project include?
The exact scope of services is determined on an individual basis. Typical EPC services are:
- Technical design and plant engineering
- Selection and procurement of components
- Co-ordination of suppliers and sub-contractors
- Construction and installation of the photovoltaic system
- Installation of the electrical infrastructure
- Tests, documentation and commissioning
- Turnkey handover of the plant
