Solar Park Vennebeck: 6.12 MWp with storage in Porta Westfalica
The Porta Westfalica project is being developed Solar Park Vennebeck with 6.12 MWp and one Battery storage system with 10,870 kWh. The project is a solar park with storage facilities in the planning phase – the EPC contract is being awarded, and the permit is also in the pipeline.

- Status: in the design phase, EPC procurement is underway
How a solar park with storage is being planned to be built
One Solar park with storage system planned It goes through four stages before the first pillar is placed in the ground: surface protection, construction planning, grid connection approval and award.
For Vennebeck, the construction description and application documents are ready; the planning permission procedure of the city of Porta Westfalica is underway. In parallel, the EPC contract award is in progress – that is, the decision on who will take on the planning, procurement, and construction as a total package.
Why the storage is planned from the beginning
A storage system that is only planned after the park is built costs a second grid connection procedure. Therefore, the 10,870 kWh and 5.2 MW battery storage system in Vennebeck is part of the planning from the very beginning. The design corresponds to approximately two hours of full load.
The location
The park is being built in the neighborhood Vennebeck in Porta Westfalica, in the network area of Westfalen Weser. For Ostwestfalen-Lippe, it is one of the larger open space projects – and is located about 20 kilometers from our headquarters in Bünde.
Each facility is publicly registered
Planning a solar park with a storage system also means reporting obligations: Every generation facility is subject to reporting. Market data register of the Federal Network Agency. We will take over the registration as part of the project.
Do you have an area for a solar park?
We assess suitability, grid connection and approval procedures, and take over the implementation until commissioning. Contact us.
Medium-voltage technology from Faber E-Tec
The medium-voltage technology comes from the company's own group: Faber E-Tec provides three substations for the solar park, each with 3,150 kVA as well as the technology for the battery storage system. In this way, parking and storage are coordinated from the very beginning.
Frequently Asked Questions
What steps does a solar park go through before construction begins?
Four: Land protection, urban planning, grid connection approval and award of contracts. The construction specifications and application documents for the 6.12 MWp Vennebeck solar park are ready, and the urban planning process is underway.
Why should the storage be planned from the beginning?
Because a retrofitted storage system triggers a second grid connection process. In Vennebeck, the battery storage system with 10,870 kWh and 5.2 MW has been part of the planning from the beginning.
How long does the planning process for a solar park take?
This depends on the municipality and the method of implementation and is the least predictable part of a project. Reliable statements are only possible once the decision to construct has been made and the procedure has been established.
How much space does a park with 6 MWp need?
As a rough guide, for open-air installations, one expects approximately one hectare per MWp, depending on module technology, row spacing, and terrain. The actual number of units to be installed is only determined by the occupancy planning for the specific area.
What does EPC contracting mean?
The decision on who will take on the engineering, procurement and construction as a total package – that is, planning, procurement and construction under one contract. For Vennebeck, this step is currently underway.
